YUSHI TAKEUCHI

FORMER DESIGNER | ROKUBUEN (UNTIL 2023)

AN EARLY PASSION FOR FASHION

Born on May 10, 2000, in Kobe, Japan, Yushi Takeuchi developed an interest in fashion from an early age, influenced by his grandmother, who worked in fashion design and modeling.

He entered Bunka Gakuen University at the top of his class and served as student council president for two years. He also took responsibility for planning and coordinating the university's 37th Fashion Creation Department fashion show.

While still at university, Takeuchi joined ROKUBUEN's collection design team.

In 2022, at the age of 22, he contributed to the brand's collections as ROKUBUEN made its first official participation in Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO.

TRADITION & INNOVATION

Takeuchi values the traditions of fashion while embracing creativity that challenges established conventions.

He is particularly influenced by Martin Margiela and Junichi Abe, the designer behind kolor.

He admires Margiela's unconventional approach to rethinking clothing and Abe's exploration of materials, construction and silhouettes.

His creative interests lie in bringing together tradition and innovation, functionality and beauty.

MATERIALS, CONSTRUCTION & SILHOUETTES

Takeuchi believes that the beauty of fashion comes not only from decoration, but also from the choice of materials, garment construction and the relationship between clothing and the human body.

He values the thoughtful use of materials, innovative construction and refined silhouettes, approaching design through research and technical understanding.

While respecting traditional techniques, he seeks new possibilities in clothing through experimentation and fresh perspectives.

CLOTHING THAT INSPIRES

For Takeuchi, fashion is not simply about appearance. He believes that beautiful clothing can also influence how people feel about themselves.

He values garments designed to be worn and appreciated for years, while maintaining an interest in the development of the fashion industry, craftsmanship, marketing and distribution.

Guided by the belief that exceptional achievement requires extraordinary effort, he places importance on continuous learning, research and creative exploration.

CAREER AT ROKUBUEN & BEYOND

Takeuchi worked as a designer at ROKUBUEN until the end of 2023.

He contributed to the 23SS “KAKU” collection, which marked ROKUBUEN's first official participation in Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO in 2022, and continued to take part in subsequent collection development.

His interest in materials, construction and silhouettes formed part of the creative expertise behind ROKUBUEN's collections.

In 2024, he moved to Japanese fashion label kolor. Since September 2026, he has been working at Margiela Japan.

Following his time at ROKUBUEN, he continues to develop his career in the fashion industry.
